On the main console the box that hangs from the ceiling you ll see a few different nobs and or buttons. Release your hold on the door and see if it stays up all the way. Move the limit switch to try and solve this issue. Similarly if you door won t open all the way then the limit switch may be too close to the motor.

As the garage door motor lifts the door it pushes against the limit switch in blue in the diagram causing the motor to cut out at the correct height. From here lift the garage door by hand about 3 feet above the ground and then release the door and see were it lands. You should also find buttons or nobs that will adjust the force too. Start by making sure your garage door is open all the way.

To check the balance pull the emergency release cord or chain to disconnect the door. Ideally the door should slowly float up from this point. You should now be able to move the door up and down by hand. The limit adjusters control how far the garage door goes up and how far it goes down.
